Current Musical Musings

2 posts in 2 days, I know SHOCKER!

I've currently rediscovered my love for the Arctic Monkeys, I mean, all four albums have been playing in the background for the past week. So obviously when they released their new song a few days a ago my love quickly became obsession.

Moving on...

I've really been digging a Californian band named The Neighbourhood. Beside the fact that they are all INSANELY hot, they have become one of my favorite bands (my friends hate them because I fangirl about every interview!) with their overarching vibe of melancholy, why wouldn't a teenager love them?

Last but not least,

Matt Corby!! Matt Corby is originally an angel and Australian. I saw Matt Corby this week at KOKO in Camden and let me say he did not disappoint! I discovered him last year but after buying tickets to his gig I loved him even more (it was like I found my favorite pair of jeans again.) So here he is:

The Art of Television

I have no excuse to why I haven't posted anything for about a year.

Binge Watching: Finishing all three seasons of a show in 2 days. May lead to intense sadness with The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel being the soundtrack to your life.

The premise of Binge watching is something that most people do, myself included, to either catch up on a whole new show or to re-watch it. There has been some debate over the ideal of 'Binge Watching', as suspense and character development is more explicitly presented through watching an episode a week.

Although t.v. shows such as Arrested Development and House of Cards, was released onto Netflix in its entirety, aiding 'Binge Watching' rather than promoting the watcher to endure the same situations as the characters *cough* red wedding *cough*.

Ultimately, television is a profound thing. It can completely change your outlook on a situation or help you find parallels between you and a fictional character (sometimes I like to think I'm  Liz Lemon but with hint of Daria). Alternatively, it could create a sense of cohesion between you and others that watch the same show; basically binge watching is not a bad thing because it makes you happy until the season ends.

I would promise to write more frequently, but I wouldn't want to encourage false hope.

Do we really know anything?

I figured I need to stop writing on this like it's my own diary or journal of sorts, so I will no longer be writing this like entry posts.

The one thing I don't quite understand is equality. Not in the sense of what it means but what people what it to achieve in a sense. Recently I've been working on this project at school to make a video about rape, but not your typical rape awarenesses video, a video from the perpetrators perspective. My group and I are always asked 'what do you want to achieve from this?', the majority of the group simply said to promote equality and that even the 'villain' feels guilty.

However, that still didn't make sense; what exactly did we want to achieve in the long run?

Equality gets thrown around a lot that we have no idea what we even mean when we say 'we want equality'. In the end we decided we wanted respect for both parties involved. Even though I still never understood by what we meant to say with wanting equality, I was still satisfied by what I had gained. Seeing as it still somewhat helped us with a greater understanding of what we wanted to do. This also leads to the realisation that I gathered, does anyone actually know what they mean when they say 'we are fighting for equality'?

This still sounds like an diary/journal entry.

How do you do?

Humble Friend,

I haven't written to you before so I think that I will start.
I don't seem to like/love anything however, I do love the winter, and I always have done it puts everything into perspective, but also makes me think about insignificant things that are happening in my life. Thinking about the 'what if's', what others may be doing at the time. Reading plays and novels so everything can stop, so that the only thing that matters are the people in my book.

So maybe I just like the feeling of winter that it's, so cold that your fingers freeze whilst wearing gloves, zipping up your jacket just to get some sort of warmth and that the Christmas lights that have been put up everywhere just make you smile stupidly on your way home from school. Maybe that's the reason I like winter; because winter is ambiguous it can be whatever you want it to be just by perhaps changing your outlook on the situation.
